Beginning in 1931, the City of New York commissioned 104 sculptures to top traffic lights on 5th Avenue from 8th – 59th Streets. Most were destroyed in the 1960s when the lamps were upgraded, but a few survived. Two are in the Museum of the City of New York, one is in the Fifth Avenue Association’s office and a few are in private collections.
