1939 World’s Fair
It was “The Dawn of a New Day.” The 1939 New York World’s Fair remains iconic. Following the worst days of the Great Depression, its “World of Tomorrow” theme bravely forecast a bright new future despite the gathering storm of World War II. Amid an overwhelming array of modernism led by the Trylon and Perisphere, the fair’s 1261 acres offered a global sense harmony despite the complexities of a new age.
For nearly 30 years we have been collecting paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings, prints, posters, objects, ephemera and more that was associated with the Fair for nearly 30 years. The scope and quality of material astonishes. It is inspiration for calling our gallery, Helicline.
