BIO:
Stowell Sherman (1886 – 1973) was born in Providence, studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Has exhibited widely and his work is found in museums and private collections. Has received prizes for oils, watercolors and lithography, among them the purchase prize for an oil for the permanent collection of Rhode Island Museum of Art, Eliza Gardiner Prize for a watercolor at Providence Water Color Club, Buckley Memorial Prize for best black and white at Rockport Art Association.
